Every year the Parry Sound High School delivers the Community Living Parry Sound (CLPS) Bursary award to a deserving student.  This year we are proud to announce that the winner is Jordan Harry. The CLPS Bursary is awarded to a graduating student who has worked to promote community inclusion and remove barriers often faced by people with disabilities.Jordan Harry

As an advocate and friend, Jordan treats all students at her school equally and encourages others to do the same. In Jordan’s letter of application for the bursary, she speaks about how she promoted inclusion at the Parry Sound High School by modelling what support, kindness and friendship with people who have disabilities looks like.

Jordan Harry grew up in a family that included people with disabilities as part of their everyday life. She comes by her awareness and sensitivity to people with disabilities honestly and naturally which makes her passion to share that knowledge and make real change in our community strong.

The future looks bright for Jordan.  She will be attending the Canadore College Child Development Practitioner program and hopes to apprentice here in Parry Sound. I spoke with her mom Barb Swartz-Biscaro, who described her daughter to me as generous, and pensively revealed that Jordan “glows when she is working with children”.

Congratulations to Jordan Harry for being the 2015 winner of the Community Living Parry Sound Bursary.
