James Bailey’s Reflections on Working at the Cabana

James Bailey’s Reflections on Working at the Cabana
"I loved meeting people, and had fun figuring out change for customers. I also loved working with employees who were good friends!"

How long did you work at the Cabana?

I worked there for a summer.

What did you learn at the Cabana when dealing with the public?

Sometimes you would get customers who were really friendly but also some that weren’t.  It really helped me learn how to deal with customers and build my people skills.

How did you promote the Cabana while working there?

We would always say to the customers, “It’s good! It’s right in town at the beach! Tell your friends and relatives to come down!”

Where else have you worked since the Cabana?

I’m working for Community Living right now.  In the past I worked at Subway for four years, as well as Dairy Queen for a bit.

How do you think the Cabana helped you with future employment?

I’m not as strong working with money so the practice really helped me build those skills.  It helped me get a job at Subway.  The experience working at the Cabana helped me build confidence and having it on my resume was a big help too.

What did you enjoy most about working at the Cabana?

I loved meeting people, and had fun figuring out change for customers.  I also loved working with employees who were good friends!
