We wanted to share a youth initiative Active Living Alliance for Canadians With a Disability and The Steadward Centre are hosting called Building Together: Advocacy, identity, and support in sport and recreation for youth experiencing disability. The aim of the project is to build a network of youth (ages 15-30 years old) experiencing disability across Canada who can share experiences, solutions, and passions for physical activity, sport and recreation.

The Youth Summit aims to be a space of gathering for youth leaders experiencing disability to share experiences, solutions, and passions for physical activity, sport, and recreation and to strengthen our communities.
The Summit will include discussion and engagement sessions on topics such as:

All About Disability: History and Where We’re Going

Advocacy: How can we better prepare ourselves with advocacy skills?

What is “Wellness” and how do we achieve it? Discussing physical, mental and spiritual health in physical activity

Para Sport: Discussions with current and former para-athletes

Leadership: Athletes2Coaches Program
